2. Data we collect

a) When you visit the website. Our hosting provider automatically records technical information needed to deliver the website securely, such as your IP address, date and time of access, the page requested, browser type and operating system (server log files). This data is used only to operate and protect the website and is deleted after a short period.

b) When you contact us. If you send us an email, call us or message us on WhatsApp, we process the information you provide (for example your name, contact details, travel dates, number of guests and any requests) in order to answer your enquiry, prepare a quote and, if you book, to arrange and carry out your stay. Please note that WhatsApp is a service of WhatsApp Ireland Ltd. / Meta Platforms; its own privacy terms apply when you use it.

c) When you book a stay. We process the data needed for the rental agreement, invoicing and payment, and any legally required guest registration (for example for local tourist tax). We keep this data for as long as required by Swiss commercial and tax law (generally up to 10 years).

3. Cookies and consent

Our website uses a consent banner (Complianz). Technically necessary cookies are set to make the website and the banner work. Statistics and marketing cookies are only set if you give your consent via the banner. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via the “Manage consent” option on the website. Details of the individual cookies are listed in our Cookie Policy.

4. Google Analytics

If you consent to statistics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies to help us understand how visitors use the website (for example which pages are visited and how long), so we can improve it. IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4. The data may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States. If you do not consent, Google Analytics does not set any cookies. More information: Google Privacy Policy.

5. YouTube videos

Our video page embeds a video from YouTube (Google Ireland Limited) in privacy-enhanced mode. The video is only loaded after you have accepted marketing cookies or clicked on the video placeholder. Once loaded, YouTube may set cookies and receive information such as your IP address. More information: Google Privacy Policy.

6. Hosting and fonts

The website is hosted by SiteGround. Fonts used on the website are served from our own server; no connection to Google Fonts is made when you visit the website.

7. Links to other websites

Our website contains links to external websites (for example the Verbier / La Tzoumaz tourist office, the 4 Vallées ski area, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these websites; their own privacy policies apply once you follow a link.

8. Legal basis

Where the GDPR applies, we process your data on the following legal bases: the performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps at your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) for enquiries and bookings; compliance with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR) for accounting and guest registration; our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for server log files; and your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for statistics and marketing cookies.

9. Transfers abroad

Some service providers (for example Google) may process data outside Switzerland and the EU, in particular in the United States. Such transfers take place on the basis of an adequacy decision (such as the Swiss-U.S. and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where the provider is certified) or appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

10. How long we keep data

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above or as required by law. Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are generally deleted within 12 months. Booking and invoicing records are retained for the legally required period.

11. Your rights

Subject to the applicable law, you have the right to:

  • request information about the personal data we hold about you;
  • have incorrect data corrected;
  • have your data deleted or its processing restricted;
  • object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
  • receive your data in a common format (data portability);
  • withdraw your consent at any time, with effect for the future.

To exercise your rights, please contact us at info@chalet-v.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority: in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, www.edoeb.admin.ch), or, if you live in the EU/EEA or the UK, the data protection authority of your country.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example when we use new services. The current version is always available on this page.
